Palin is nothing but a liar. She at best is a bitch in lipstick. The Iraqi war is not god's war. Get a clue you conservative sheep. Open your eyes to the truth.

winging it

All three Truman, Kennedy, and Clinton were known for deviating from the written speaches prepared for them. Nixon was such a poor speaker that Kennedy trashed him completly, the same for Truman and Clinton in thier debates. Palin cannot speak anything that is not put in fromt of her the same as the old gray haired man.

Nixon is a Democrat?

Wes, it's always hard to infer meaning, but I think the point is:

Truman: No teleprompter exists

Kennedy, Nixon, Clinton: eloquent rhetorical speakers, despite Nixon's sweatiness that cost him in his televised debate with Kennedy.

Given that Nixon is a Republican, I don't think there's a partisan issue here. He could add Reagan to that list, as well.

It does indicate that the writer doesn't think Palin is in their class as far as presentation abilities go. File that under MSM liberal bias, or file it under the truth, since she has a lot less experience in politics than any of those people do.

What's a teleprompter

Will it help me?

This is a crazy comments section--Cu coo

You people are nuts. Stop talking nonsense.

The only person who made sense was the guy from Alaska.

Sarah Palin read a teleprompter, and it went a line or two ahead, so she read the printed version. End of story.

Barack Obama read and reads a teleprompter. It is noted he does this well. He does improvised speeches. Some say he does it okay, others say that he does it badly. Differences of opinion. End of story.

Don't talk nonsense.

he THINKS a Democrat would have done it better.

Actually, I think he was implying that Truman, Kennedy, Nixon, or Clinton DID do it better. BTW: Nixon was never a democrat.

I don't watch much TV, particulary coverage of the conventions. But I gather that Obama is not wowing viewers with his ability to speak intelligently when not reading a prepared speech.

What ever went wrong, that was on heck of a speech

As I watched the Palin speech my thoughts were that it was a speech actually coming from her heart and background. Cerainly a breath of fresh air from the targeted marketing approaches going on elsewhere in the campaigns. Being slick and smooth, trying to appeal to everybody, isn't necessarily what I want in a candidate.

What?

Read one man's report that the teleprompter was a few lines off but mostly it was not really hard to keep up with although it seemed to hurry the speaker along. Then it came out that Governor Palin's speech was about 20 minutes long while the find gentleman videotaping the teleprompter only captured about 90 seconds of video. Others say the problems began about midway into the speech. I get the feeling that nothing conclusive is coming out of this. Just a few spot checks, a few comments here and there that do not do credit to the full length of the speech.

Smooooth

The teleprompter did not break, it was mismanaged. The operator was so thrilled to hear what Governor Palin was saying that he/she lost track of what was supposed to be his/her job. But, did this phase Gov. Palin? Not much. Not as much as I can imagine Mr. Obama considering his Uh's and Ah's even with a teleprompter. So, you say his teleprompter is not in sight when he does that? Can't have it both ways. He's eloquent even when he belches, according to his adoring followers, right? However, how does it work that it was the Republican Convention but it was also an opportunity to spin Obama into the conversation at ever opportunity but when the Democrat Convention was in full sway, it was still an opportunity to pop Obama into the mix at every opportunity. Now, when we are talking about the mismanagement of the teleprompter for Gov. Palin and Rudy Giulani, we still hear comparisons with Obama. Somewhere in all this the Media is showing its not-so-unbiased face.

Palin unscripted

I live in Alaska...so I know who Sarah Palin is. I'm thinking once she starts talking "shooting from the hip", her words will bewilder the nation - Sarah unscripted often makes no sense. Sometimes she looses the ability use language tools to interpret and convey thoughts and ideas. She has special difficulty answering questions having to do with public policy. She'll sound good though. She hasn't had to make sense, really...here in Alaska we don't require any kind of refinement from the governor, so her scripted speaking ability, always entertaining, hasn't been a problem. I have complete confidence that teleprompter was working nearly perfectly.
