Lincoln and the RNC speeches

Mccain and Giulani booth stated that their party is the party of Lincoln. Now while Lincoln was a republican, isn't it true that the parties have changed names and that Lincoln's party is actually the present day Democrats? Do you know your history? Can you address this question please?

If I'm right Mccain and Giulani told a big fat deceptive fib, somebody please bust em on it.

To John Klock:

Other than those, there are really no similarities (okay, I admit - they're both over six feet tall).

Perhaps the biggest disparity is that Lincoln was moral; Obama, on the other hand, supports abortion, partial-birth abortion, and the clear murder of babies from failed abortions.

fro m hapa

mcain is to old to be president

"As for the quote itself, it's a haymaker for promoting small government, FOOLING the people, since there is no mechanism by which government actually can get any smaller. Rearranged from federal to states/cities, maybe. Altogether maller, no way. Can't happen. Never did. Never will."

Only people who believe in big government believe that government cannot be contained.

Why Is Olivia So Dense?

Dear Olivia, Accuracy counts, especially when it comes to politicians, many of whom are prone to editing the truth, eliding past transgressions, and otherwise tinkering with the record in order to utter a more rousing soundbite.

why are people so superficial?

It's not that important who's quote is that as you can find 3-4 versions on the internet...it's the meaning of it. Wow what a big of a story...you could come with something better

Abrahan Lincoln

The odd thing about the comment about Lincoln is that if you think about Lincoln

He was a lawyer in Illinois

He was a one term Congressman who opposed the Mexican War

He was an Illinois state legislator

He was defeated in a run for the Senate, ostensibly losing a debate with Douglas.

He was elected to the Presidency with that background and preserved the Union in its most perilous days.

Well, Robert, imperfect as it is, at least we HAVE an Internet to search help us search for verification. In times past, politicians had more liberty to say just any old thing and get away with it.

As for the quote itself, it's a haymaker for promoting small government, FOOLING the people, since there is no mechanism by which government actually can get any smaller. Rearranged from federal to states/cities, maybe. Altogether maller, no way. Can't happen. Never did. Never will.
