Too bad Michael Douglas isn't here to hear Ted either. PS: google

Well-written

Dear Mr. Schlesinger, You are a brilliant writer and your summary of Senator Kennedy's speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention was truly inspiring. Thank you.

The sea

"Not surprisingly, the tribute video started and ended with Teddy Kennedy waxing poetic about the sea and then sailing upon it."

Not to mention crashing into it with his car, or letting it drown his girlfriend.

Cancer

I wonder if Teddy's cancer is alcohol-related?

And he got paid for this?

Grammar police here: "Dad said HE was skeptical - it sounded TOO pat."

now it is possible that your writer intentionally left out the pronoun "he" - in an attempt at some strange informal attempt writing style change. However, I assure you that the last "too" definitely should read as TOO.

Please, in a national publication that is also on the internet/WWW - get your grammar correct. It is no wonder this nation as a whole is full of barely literate people - look at who we have paid to write in magazines.

Too bad Mary Jo Kopechne couldn't be there to cheer for him.

Cancer

Ted did the best thing tonight for cancer survivors and cancer. He did NOT talk about his personal challenge, but was himself. The most important thing to a survivor is to be treated as NORMAL. The most important thing for 'cancer' is to give hope. Ted did that for both the disease (silently) and the Democratic Party.

As a cancer surviror, I thank him and will vote fore Obama.
