In the end it doesn't even matter

Unfortunately - in this crisis no matter who wins Iran, democracy and freedom loses...

Mousavi and Ahmedinejad are cut from the same radical, Islamist cloth.

I dont believe that this was a failure. He did exactly what he said. He didnt want to act like his predecessor and so he listened then analyzed before making a statement without jumping in head first with no thought for the consequences. To me i dont believe it was a disappointment. He acted in a way he thought was befitting to the situation. I really admire the Iranian people for standing up for what they believed in. commend their efforts. Obama must focus on Human Rights issue not Elections in Iran

I am not an American citizen but coming with a Persian background as a researcher active in science, I humbly like to give my services to those in need for fighting terrorism.

So please find the following letter relevant to those people suffering under tyranny in Iran, I as a concerned person asking on their behalf:

We hereby declare that we are in favor of strong words upon the current crisis in Iran against the very-illegitimate regime of I. R. Iran.

We must add and question that, those who kill the innocent based on strong media images and confirmed reports, how must they be judged and treated by the global community? ...

Thinking about just the nuclear issue is not the remedy for global peace announced by the democrats and the respectable US president, B. H. Obama...

What is the current US position on Iran?... The current US policy is too soft indeed... To be marginally silent at this very moment not aiding people seeking for democracy, calling for peace in Iran, just for the sake of US national interest, is truly illogical!...

This is a rightful claim from the Human Rights constitution which originally came from the first Persian King "Cyrus the Great", in form of a cylinder held at UN headquarters, Ref. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrus_Cylinder ...

One must separate the peaceful Iranian community from the Taliban-i Type Dictators i.e. the totalitarian regime of Tehran employing monsters from other middle eastern countries, Chechnya with an unequivocal support from former communist states to beat and kill defenseless people in Iran: "the innocent crying for peace and basic human rights, defying the regime itself"... How does President Obama respects the sovereignty of I. R. Regime boarders whilst this regime considers Israel to be wiped off the map and triggers events in Iraq to rule Middle East based on barbaric fanaticism...!?

We must prevent terrorism and those unfolded events that are being spread across the Middle East region, mostly fueled and advocated by the Ayatollahs in Tehran including the Supreme Leader, Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei himself (current events occurring in Iraq).

We must not let the cry for democracy rest in Iran. The momentum must continue its course and “US must represent democracy and not just follow it” until the corrupt fanatics are brought into justice. Killing an innocent defenseless human is simply a crime against humanity.

One last thing, does the world want to be conquered by the insane elements of the regime integrated within the I. R. Fanatic regime's body (they always want to implement this according to their Friday prayers' speeches since the last 30 years of their reign)?

Roff is Right On! Even Canada Showed Up the US.

I find it intolerable that the United States is lagging behind Canada and dozens of other nations in condemning the Iranian regime's actions and calling for basic human rights in Iran. I was appalled when Secretary Clinton followed the Obama Administration line early on -- she said we would not comment on an internal Iranian matter but that we were monitoring the situation. The Canadian minister then jumped in and stated that, as for Canada, they were extremely concerned and he didn't mince words. I am ashamed that when the test of the new administration came in the form of standing up for basic human rights, they cowered and said nothing. They let Canada and other nations lead the way. It is a sad day when the United States is not a leader on international human rights. Can you imagine if Obama had been president during Tieneman (sp?) Square? He probably would have done what the Chinese have insisted upon: Nothing, since it was an internal Chinese matter. Obama failed this test big time. We need Obama to lead the free world and try to make more people part of that world. Will he do it? So far, it looks doubtful.

yeah!

hey, bad election, didn't go the way the guys we like wanted, must have been rigged, let's drop the big one now. It's not like we're interfering in their internal affairs or anything, 'cause our motives are pure, and, besides, on us it looks good.

now, when those stinkin' effete Europeans expressed, however delicately, a preference for Obama over McCain, I mean, what business is it of theirs, huh? this is a family affair. buzz off.

Face reality Folks...

Dealing with Iran or any other intolerant regeim from a position of weakness is just plain WRONG. Obama's "can't we all just be friends" and "it's all our fault" rhetoric has played into every Tyrant/would-be dictator in this World.

Naive by any standard.

Even if we no longer have the "garbonzos" or MONEY to back our opinion, AT LEAST we should have one that supports the call to FREEDOM.

Guess THAT wasn't in Obama's College/Community Organizing/ Civil Rights attorney experience.

Iran Election

I agree with Roff.

Technically is was written on the wall, that this election was going to be fixed. I believe Obamba needs to do some history research in order to understand the Middle East. You can't cuddle bad regimes, like Obamba is doing, but you need to be smart and have wisdom in dealing with dictators, and facist regimes. Obamba is lacking sadley in this area.

I have to say, grant it, he did inherited problems, but he is adding to, or making it worse....It is ashame we couldn't have had Huckabee in the runnings during the election, instead of McCain, Huckabee could of won and probable done better.

repeat the same mistakes?

Iran has accused the US of meddling in its politics in the past, with justification. Now without knowing that there was election fraud, you advocate interfering again? If a lifeboat is drifting your way in a rough sea while you are on the shore, why jump in and swim out to get it. No one here knows who was rightly or wrongly elected. Interfering again would not be appreciated by EITHER candidate and could kill any chance to negotiate with whichever party ultimately rules Iran. Hitch your wagon to the wrong horse and you have really screwed up. Thank God Dubya is out of office....meddling sounds like something he'd do with more disastrous consequences.
