Closing dealerships

The disturbing part of this is that the US govt is ignoring the

principles of free enterprise and attempting to salvage a company that--in spite of lucrative contracts with the US govt

itself (e.g. Hummers..)--has gone broke. It seems to be inconceivable to many that this corporation failed because

it has grown fat, incompetent, and--obviously--insolvent.

So the next time you buy a car (and who would buy from GM?)

you can puzzle over the fact that the company you buy from

is competing against a govt subsidized company. But is that

really competition? It would seems that the term has been

redefined somewhat.

As for the govt zeroing in on Republican dealerships, I

wonder:

- do dealerships invariably give money to a political party?

To what purpose?

- wouldn't most dealerships tend to be Republican anyway?

- didn't GM execs (and not the govt) choose the dealers to

be closed?

- is this issue worth 2 cents vs. the issue of dismantling,

or at least making a mockery of--the free enterprise system?
