I agree completely
I sent my student over to C2 in Maryland for getting help with SAT prep and now they are working on their college application essays. Thanks for posting about that seminar - I'll be there!
We need to invest more in education!
It's remarkable the difference early applications have compared to regular decision. There's still a lot we need to do to level the playing field to give equal opportunity too all candidates regardless of socio-economic status. Yes, admissions officers do consider context, but there is only so much you can chalk up to context and extenuating circumstances. Not much has changed with regards to how we look at education, and for us to get back to the forefront in the world we need to invest more so here whether it's in the public or private space. Recently, Warren Buffett made a big bet on the US. I'd really like us all to make this kind of big bet in education. The founder of C2 Education is going to be giving a talk on this on November 13 in Arlington, VA and I suggest anyone interested to attend.
