I have been in this field for over 18 years... constantly sloughing, hard working keeping myself involved in latest technologies...but alas, ever few months getting laid off or projects moving offshore...The capitalist of US wont spare you..just as they never spared the textile, auto and other manufacturing workers....If you have sense...understand economics and rethink the mistake you step into..else embrace lifetime unemployment..Cheers..my advice is sincere and truthful..make no mistake..its your whole life

text books

College students now have to spen too much for text books. In my days at the university we were able to reuse books but today the update of information is critical.

but where are the jobs?

as an it professional of 20+ years i am gald to see the interest in cs go up. but, i can't help but wonder where are the jobs and what will they be? i have been laid off twice within the last 10 years with the last time being a result of it jobs going to india. the company i worked for was off-shoring a lot of their it work. one company i interviewed with was also ouff-shoring their it work. a friend of mine has been laid off three time in the last 10 years, all of which were a result of off-shoring.
