MIT Accepts 10 Percent of Applicants
Only 10 percent of undergraduate applicants to MIT were admitted this year—a record low, the Tech reports. The drop in the acceptance rate coincides with a 17 percent increase in the total number of applicants, which rose to 15,661 this year.
Of the 1,597 students admitted, 48 percent were female and almost 25 percent were underrepresented minorities. Officials are hoping to enroll 1,075 students for the class of 2013.

Don't write yourself off so quickly. I come from a small town as well. While it is a bit more difficult adjusting to the course load of MIT, it's definitely managable. You should definitely consider applying to MIT (either as a transfer student or for grad). I never thought I had any chance to get in but I did. Have more faith in yourself.
At least, hold on to your love for EE. Even if you aren't at MIT, that is more useful to you than any difference in resources. Good luck with everything.

I'm sorry you didn't get in. If you were applying to MIT though, I'm sure you applied to other schools and have plenty of options. Anyway, good luck with school. Consider MIT for grad school.
MIIT,my forever dream
I come from a small town, now I am a college student majoring in electrical engineering ,which is seldom chosen by girls, but I am diligent enough to handle my courses well. It is a pity that after all the educational resourses in my university is too limited to gratify my thirst for knowledge, I know it very clearly that it is not realistic for me too enter the MIT,I even don't have the courage to apply for it , however, receiving education in it would be my whole life dream. I firmly believe that whatever the MIT does is for the student's interest, for the quality of the education. Wish you a brighter future, MIT!
