30 Percent Jump in Applications to Hopkins's Education Program

The Johns Hopkins School of Education has seen a roughly 30 percent increase in applications, the News-Letter reports. Officials attribute the jump to recruitment efforts and the economy. "When people find the job market is very tight, they begin to explore their options, and they realize [that] teaching is a very attractive option," said the school's dean. "There's still a need for good teachers in science and math, and we try to inform people who have background or interest in that area that there are lots of jobs available in education."
