Jindal to Cut $219 Million From Louisiana Colleges
Louisiana's public colleges are expecting a total of $219 million in budget cuts next fiscal year, a figure that would be twice as high without federal stimulus money, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Gov. Bobby Jindal is expected to formally announce this plan Friday to the state Legislature.
The Louisiana State System will likely be forced to absorb $100 million in cuts, while the system's flagship campus in Baton Rouge could have $35 million slashed from its budget, a prospect particularly frustrating for a school that has been competing better academically with its regional peers. "The cut will likely cause us to fall back to where we were eight or 10 years ago," Chancellor Michael Martin told the Daily Reveille , the student paper. "This kind of cut—20 percent—would be a major setback for LSU."
Higher education officials have asked the state to approve a 5 percent tuition increase to help mitigate effects of the cuts.

GREEDY POLITICIANS
DON'T YOU GUYS KNOW THAT JINDIL WILL DO WHAT EVER HE WANTS AND THE OTHERS WILL TAKE EVERYTHING PEOPLE HAVE WORKED FOR ALL THEIR LIVES. TO ME I DON'T THINK IT MATTERS ANYMORE WHAT WE THE PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT OR THINK ABOUT IT. THEY ARE THE GOVERNMENT. THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH MURDER, IT SEEMS TO ME. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY CAN DO TO PUT IN THEIR POCKETS. THATS WHY I DON'T VOTE ANYMORE. JUST WHEN YOU THINK OK HERE'S ONE THAT IS GOING TO DO US SOME GOOD. THEN HE CAUSES ALOT OF PROBLEMS. WELL I'M HERE TO SAY, THEY ARE ALL FULL OF DOO DOO. ALL THE ELECTION IS, IS FOR PEOPLE TO SEE WHO CAN TELL THE BEST LIE. WHEN THEY ARE RUNNING, THEY LIE TO US ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO TO CREATE A BETTER LOUISIANA. JUST ONCE, HAS ANY ONE EVER DID ANYTHING THEY ACTUALLY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DO EVEN AFTER THEY TOOK OFFICE?? CAUSE I HAVE NEVER THOUGHT SO. THEY ALL ARE GREEDY. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU OR ME OR THIS STATE. THE ONLY THING THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY IN THEIR POCKET. BUT YOU SEE, JUST AROUND THE CORNER OUR FATHER JESUS IS COMING. BUT BEFORE HE COMES, THERE'S GOING TO BE A TIME WHERE MONEY IS NOTHING. THATS WHEN THE ANTICHRIST IS HERE. I DO BELIEVE THE ANTICHRIST WILL BE IN THE GOVERNMENT. CALL ME CRAZY IF YOU WANT. BUT WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS WHAT THE HELL DO THE SENATE PLAN TO DO WHEN MONEY IS NO GOOD. THEY WILL HAVE IT, BUT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BUY NOT A THING WITH IT.
You might want to look at your coments closer
He guys before you throw Jindal under the bus and start with all the how you hate republican talking points. You might want to take a look at the way the state funding is appr. State Funding to Schools is not a fixed items in the budget other items have fixed values, so it's one of the few place it can be cut due to the law. Jindal is proposing an admen, to prevent this. He has to play by the laws on the books.
Nice try though
You guys should study the law a little more.
The Republican misconnect
The problem with Jindal and the Republicans is that they are seriously out of touch with mainstream America. They claim that Obama should consider tax cuts in his stimuls plan; and yet Obama is giving tax cuts to 95% of working Americans. What Republicans do not say is that the want the tax cuts for the wealthiest of Americans. Republicans are so patriotic that they even want to pay their American taxes. Jindal is a joke, but educators aren't laughing. He better run for president because if he runs for Governor he'll be on the unemployment line
