Illinois Campus Loses Power for Hours
Thousands of University of Illinois students were out of luck Sunday afternoon and evening when high winds caused an hours-long campuswide power outage, the Daily Illini reports. The power outage forced the university to cancel a T.I. concert and to step up police patrols to ease safety concerns. Students were encouraged to stay in common areas, and RAs roamed the halls watching for students using candles or other open flames. For many, the outage "provided a change of pace, with soccer games in hallways and card games in residence hall lobbies."
For many, homework wasn't even an option. "Lectures are online, homework I need to do is online, E-mails I need to send are online," said one student. "It makes studying really difficult."
