Penn State Students Protest Governor's Budget Proposal

Penn State students rallied Monday to protest a state budget proposal that would cut $20.3 million from Penn State and would exclude the school from a tuition-aid program aimed at low-income students, the Daily Collegian reports.

Around 100 students gathered to listen to several student leaders speak. Cue the hyperbole:

"There is an issue at hand that could influence not just the student body, but generations of students to come."

"We have entered a very dark period for the students here at Penn State. Students must take action immediately."

And lastly, what could motivate Gov. Ed Rendell to exclude Penn State students from the Tuition Relief Act? "Blatant ignorance," said one student.
