Maryland Gives Free iPhones and iTouches

At the University of Maryland, 133 lucky freshmen got to choose between a free iPod Touch or an iPhone 3G as part of a project to see if neato gadgets can enhance the campus learning experience, the Diamondback reports. The Mobility Initiative encourages students to use the technology to check class schedules, grades, assignments, and bus routes using university-designed applications. The students will then discuss the experience in focus groups and seminars.
