In case you're interested in joining the festivities surrounding the Rose Bowl live on the Internet ...

We're webcasting pep rallies, tailgate parties and press conferences on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day live from Pasadena for those who couldn't get a ticket to the big game. You'll be able to talk about the game and the fun on microphone and in text as well as see it all as it happens.

Standing in line -- Shades of the USSR

Penn State should know that standing in line is a really dumb way to allocate scarce resources -- especially in the winter cold.

The Soviets did it for years, and it was a deep misery to people standing in line for the necessities of life.

Why not just assign lottery numbers in a nice calm, process over a few days or weeks, then hold a drawing?
