UCLA to Discuss Cost-Cutting in Admissions

PENNSTATE!
I'm a UCLA grad and I believe that UCLA should not cut back on the qualified freshman that they admit, but on the average transfer students they admit. If they want to include more international and out of state freshman, that would be great and would add to the diversity of the freshman class.
I think they need to be much more selective when it comes to the transfer students they admit. While I'm sure there are many qualified transfer students who deserve to be at UCLA, I know from experience that there are many who do not deserve to be there and are only there because UCLA needed to admit a certain number of transfers. While its great for these average students to transfer into UCLA, it doesn't necessarily bode well for its intellectual reputation or the education of the 4-year students who were admitted on their high merit.
Out of State transfer student speaking.
"if they didn't have the grades to make it in the first time, why allow so many in on the easy track by transferring in?"
Perhaps they never had the funds to attend an out of state college but always had the grades like myself.Perhaps they worked the last two years off saving and keeping their grades up to attend their dream school. I always thought it was unfair that there were more international students than out of state students at UCLA. I am glad I will be given priority. Finally Out of state students will be recognized instead of pushed to the side. It usually has nothing to do with grades , just limited space and they preferred california and international students but now it's finally our turn to shine! Thank God!
UCLA Cost-Cutting
So, as a 50 year tax paying resident of California, it is unbelievalbe to think that our California students would not take priority over out-of-state and international students just for a few bucks. My taxes are paying for these schools, my kids should be first on the list to attend them provided they have the qualifications. Why allow transfer students from other 4 year universities as a norm? If they didn't have the grades to make it in the first time, why allow so many in on the easy track by transferring in?
