TAXES on higher income .. is it FAIR

The interesting thing about the taxes proposed by Obama is that people are not thinking this through. Especially in this economy.

First, 100% of the first 250K a family makes, is being taxed like every body else.

It is only that 250,001 dollar that is taxed 3% more. That family, and more importantly, families that make millions will have the ability to let their money make money. That 3cents on the dollar will not prevent them from making money. In fact, they need to be investing in the future or see it all go to waste. Such taxes are an investment in the government building infrastucture, and human infrastucture.

The majority, is in the position that we have to consume what we earn just to get by. The only way to save, is to either consume less, or make more. Well, making more is what everyone wants to do, but that just doesn't happen. And I don't believe a 3% tax increase is going to deter anyone from trying to make a $500,000 pay check.

The point is, that the majority, needs the relief more than the wealthy. With a majority having more money to spend, that is more consumption of goods to drive the ecoonomy. That is more money to save, as Americans are in such debt.

Having more a slightly higher amount of costs on money made WELL BEYOND... what is needed is normal. A person that has $10,000,000 will certainly make money with that $10,000,000. They may consume that much, but that is a choice to do so. Such consumption is not a necessity. The functions that a government does, does more to protect that person's $10,000,000, than it does to protect anothers $4,000 in savings after consuming $36,000 of their $40,000 salary to survive. The value of the government functions should be regarded highly.

That rich person hires security to watch their valuables. Having such wealth is a bounty. The issue is whether it is fair.

Furthermore, a very small and lesser point is the following:

it is the wealthy that are going to all of the so called parties at the tax payer's expense. Trying to woo them to spend or invest, and yes or donate.

And they get a deduction, but enjoy the gifts and the benefits. This not the average american.

It is the business man that is wooed by other businesses, with fine dinners, lunches, hotels, attendance at sporting events, gifts, golf green fees. Are not the general people who make 250,000 or more likely to receive some of these benefits.

John Q public average American, hardly sees these types of things. He is hardly gifted like this. He may get to go to lunch on the company dime, but not often, and not like the executives. Nor does he receive their bonuses.

Obama hung?

Well of course he is....... after all he is half-black.

Palin effigy vs Obama effigy

Although I don't condone either action, the fact is, the Obama effigy was displayed on government property at the University of Kentucky and the Palin effigy was displayed on private property at a private residence. The police had no authority without a warrant.

Freedom of speech comes with a price. Yes, we as Americans have the right to a public opinion; however, those offended by the opinion have the right to express their opinion of distaste.

hanging

double standard as usual

McCain/Obama

Amongst all the chaos between the media and citizens there is one fact that people seem to ignore. One candidate HAS long-time, tested experience while the other has failed to produce the necessary data to qualify for president, let alone have no experience in running any sort of government. Where is the mystery? Wake up people, this is not about race. Its about having someone in place that can handle the US position in its current status and foreign policy. This is not a time to "try" someone new with no experience. Enough with the rhetoric!

Ignorant racist pricks with power to affect my future?

I disagree with the "Obamocracy" comment made earlier.

1. He has been continously criticized for everything and anything, why would that change if he is elected president? In fact, I think he will suffer more criticism than McCain if he wins. Obama seems to represent some sort of radical, so he will be under a microscope.

2. Why does his middle name matter? This is a superficial attempt to bring down a candidate on something that has nothing to do with his politics, actions, or ideas. In fact, it's even racist. How dare you insinuate that George Herbert Walker Bush or William Jefferson Clinton are better than Barack Hussein Obama based on the ethnic backgrounds?

And to address the Sarah Palin one, I'm sure the reason that the police took down the Obama one was because it was on public property. It's a university and that's vandalism. They didn't take down the Sarah Palin one because it's on private property. I'm sure if someone had hung it in Central Park or something, it would have been similar to the Obama incident.

well, the palin effigy was meant as a halloween joke, whereas this really was on a school campus... totally out of the question

As the story states these guys got arrested because they BROKE INTO the dorm to create this prop. They didn't get arrested for the effigy. AGAIN!!...The students were arrested for the break in! As of the Palin effigy...you cant arrest someone for hanging something on their own property versus these kids doing this on SCHOOL property so ofcourse people will make a BIG deal of it!....its SCHOOL property!!!!

Racism

Here's one Idaho view of racisim. As a contractor bidding for federal contracts One long paragraph single spaced of minoritys deserving a 7% admantage included all but white male. See anything wrong with this picture? Personally I think all should be proud of and respect their race, it'falls in the catagory of diversity. when we all blend into brown, who will celebrate diversity?

T HOLDER OF KANSAS

"Also, did anyone else notice that the news report about the girl being brutally attacked because of her McCain/Palin sticker has been swept under the rug? No, an effigy of Obama being hanged is bigger news I guess."

It wasn't swept under the rug, it was a hoax. Look it up, racist.
