For Ted in GA

Even if you have 1 of black in you in America, you are considered black, I have enough friends and family that will attest to this, people will say you are black before they will say you are white or mixed.

Freedom of Speech?

Since when did advocating violence against a person become 'freedom of speech'? Should we accord the Osama Bin Ladens of the world the same regard? By the way, "I happen to be black" is no excuse for turning a deaf ear to society's ills, and "I happen to be black" should not prevent others from evaluating your opinion solely on its merit.

If it was McCain's carboard cutout being hung up in a tree, no one would say anything. Its okay for Chris Rock the comedian to say 'whitey' this, and 'Whitey" that and joke about it, but Oh, no, don't use the N word if you are white. But its okay that African Americans use the N word all the time with each other. Why don't the media come down on all races remarks, not ust pick and choose. Are they afraid to intimae a certain race?

Obama is a pretentious little puppy, yes, but these students are acting out the lowest form of humanity. It is possible and necessary to accept others in their differences without such stupidity. Obama is a mixed race (not black) man. He has alot of people fooled into believing he is ready to run a country. Help us all if he wins but if he does, he will have my support and prayers. These teens will too. I hope they grow up through facing the appropriate punishment for their crimes. Yes, crimes.

Why is this a big deal?

Where was the outrage and national media coverage, when McCain's effigy was dragged through the streets?

"The march on Thursday passed off peacefully as people, carrying signs proclaiming "US out of Iraq" and dragging an effigy of McCain with a cardboard sign saying "McCain = war criminal," banged on drums and chanted slogans."

http://lettersinbottles.blogspot.com/2008/09/mccain-effigy-st-paul.html

There was none, so why is this making national news? Because Obama's black? Because it was a Christian school? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then you are a bigger bigot than the students who did this stupid stunt.

George Fox Students

Hey, "Christians" ....whatever happened to "Love one another as I have loved you"? - Guess it must have slipped the minds of these racist thugs. Expel and prosecute them. This is a hate crime and should be treated as such. Racism will destroy us as a nation and as a society. Who needs nuclear weapons? Man's inhumanity to man will produce the same results.

Obama people suspected

As I said before on another board, there are strong reasons for thinking that the Obama campaign is behind this. If you cannot imagine why they would do something like this, just consider what the effect of it is, in terms of casting the opposition to Obama as racially motivated.

The Obama people would like everyone to think that the only reason anyone could oppose his candidacy is because he is racially prejudiced. No, it could not be Obama's ideas, his long-standing and nefarious associations, the cheating and intimidation during the primaries, the ACORN fraudulent voter registrations--which will become endemic as we approach November 4--the fact that if he received 1/10 (that's the figure we anti-Obamas have arrived at) of the scrutiny that Sarah Palin was subjected to, his candidacy and his status as a respectable American would crash.

Neither McCain nor Sarah are perfect representatives of individualism and freedom, but Obama is a perfect representative of collectivism and statism. Moreover, he got this far by corrupt means (research it). He must not win.

If no crime was committed, it's not a hate crime, even if it's an action of hate. The authorities can't punish someone for being an idiotic jerk if they didn't harm anyone, anything, or demonstrate that they intended to. Nor should they; it's free speech. And I'm sure some of their classmates know who they are and will freely speak their minds back to them until their ears bleed.

Hopefully the school won't release their names to the press. That would only give them the national attention they're after. As is stands, they're just some nameless idiots from a sad little school that nobody's heard of who are about to hurt themselves partying too much on their semester off.

I Disagree Glen Park

Hanging someone in effigy should not be an offense that gets someone expelled or even suspended. If it is, then I would advocate expulsion for everyone who

1. has extramarital sex

2. drinks before legal age

3. commits a felony or serious misdemeanor

4. HAS AN ABORTION

on a college campus. Racism is bad, but there are a lot of bad things going on in this society, and giving disproportionate attention to racism makes things better and not worse. By the way, I happen to be black.
