Vote for Obama, Save the World? And Some Whales?

January 28, 2008 06:03 PM ET | Alison Go, Kent Garber | Permanent Link

Barack Obama held a rally today at American University in Washington, D.C., where he was endorsed by Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy. Big deal? Maybe.

More important, Obama seems to have the support of one of Hollywood's most attractive political pundits: namely, Hayden Panettiere of Heroes fame, who attended the campus event. Turns out the little activist was already in D.C. for a Save the Whales campaign. Does anybody care that she's 18 and has never voted in a presidential election before? Nope. She's super hot!

If you don't believe us, here's some exclusive video from AU, taken by video-handy U.S. News reporter Kent Garber.

If you listen closely, you can hear this gem of an exchange:

Police: "In terms of meeting up with him, we would have to wait for the staffer."
Hayden: "That's fine. Let's at least try."
Escort: "I think if they understand who she is they'll probably go and talk to her."

So the celeb's escort may have been referencing her involvement in a youth vote campaign and not her superior television skills, but whatever. At least the Obama people let her in when they figured it out—unlike the two students standing nearby who mistook Panettiere for "that girl from The Hills."

Classic.

Lies and More Lies from the Clintons

The Clintons are professional liars. Most know it.

Do people really take her talk of experience seriously, since she was unemployed before the Senate for two decades? Just imagine if you tried to put your spouse's job on your own "resume." That employer would laugh you out the door, or think you are the biggest liar. And if they made any foreign connections (she's not really personality plus in real life) in the 90s, all those foreigners would not be in office now. They are probably dead.

And on economics... Bill Clinton is no expert. He did have an expert working for him. We need that expert, not the Clintons. Please folks no more embarassing scandals for our White House. Any candidtate can hire that expert, Joseph E. Stiglitz, read about him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stiglitz#Stiglitz_in_Washington_.281992_-_2000.29

Dont know how many others are as incensed as I am about these chain emails being sent to religious groups and others that question Sen. Barack Obamas patriotism and religious beliefs. (See press link to last weeks open letter from Jewish groups being bombarded with these emails: http://www.adl.org/internet/Letter_obama.asp)

The use of the Internet to spread false information about a political candidate--- and thus to affect the outcome of an election--- is particularly abhorrent to me.

We cannot regress to old-style dirty tricks. In the public interest, we need to get behind these emails---and identify who originated them.

If you have received such an email, please forward it to me.
