Southern Mississippi Fraternity Evicted After Hazing Probe

At the University of Southern Mississippi, 19 members of the Kappa Sigma fraternity were kicked out of their house Friday after the chapter's charter was revoked and the house was closed following an investigation of hazing, the Student Printz reports.

Two female students who were attending a welcome event for little sisters—friends or girlfriends of active fraternity members—were transported to a local hospital for alcohol poisoning two weeks ago. One was released the next day and the other, who had blood-alcohol content of 0.47, remained in hospital for days.

The fraternity members were unable to secure housing on campus because of a housing crunch, and most are now living in off-campus apartments, according to the Printz, which had no comment from the group.

The real story

I have been to SMU, and the exact same activities have and are going on there also. Very odd comment by "Minister Fred Hatchett" of NC. To you I say, do not judge another when you do not have all the relevant facts. Jeremiah 5:1 says, "Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it." A true judge is one who seeks the truth. If you must judge, be sure and get all the facts.

I know for a fact if one of the students charged decided not to go to the frat house that evening and made others stop what they were doing, and made others help put the girl in her car, take her to the hospital and waited for the girls parents to arrive, the the University would be dealing with a death and not an incident. This student was charged with the others for just showing up and saving a young students life.

This happens everywhere.

Every frat house there is drinking going on every weekend. You all know that, and so do the officials for the schools. If they really cared about who got hurt because of stuff like this they'd kick all fraternities off the campus. Although, take some personal responsibility for God's sake and don't go to these events.

This wasnt a hazing event and none of the young men brought or even served alcohol to EITHER of the young girls. They were treated unfairly and were given five days to find a new place to live. This just shows the lack of responsibility by the university and their way of "sweeping it under the rug."
