Florida Named Top Party School
College students and blogs are blowing up the Internet with the release of Princeton Review's ranking of top party schools, with the University of Florida at the top. Florida also tops the list of schools with students who study the least, which, according to some, means those Gators are just supersmart. "We don't even need to study that much," says one junior. "We know that we'll still get the grade, even with a hangover." Or classes are really easy, but—whatever.
The Princeton Review also ranks lots of other stuff, including a category right up our alley—the best college newspapers, based on popularity among the student body.

I don't know who these kids are that don't study, but I can assure you that the majority of them do...and study hard. Any school with superior athletics programs is going to be seen as a party school. Underage drinking does go on...but it is a salient subject with University officials and local police.
The Princeton Review's party school and other ranking lists are based on what students at the schools in its "Best 368 Colleges" book reported to the company about their own colleges on the survey for this book (not The Princeton Review's opinion of the schools). The party school list is based on students' answers to survey questions about the use of alcohol and drugs and the popularity of the frat/sorority scene on campus and how many hours they study each day outside of class. Also to reader who laments that UF's indepenent paper, The Alligator didn't make the top 5 on "Best College Newspaper" list -- the list isn't based on circulation or readership. It's based only on how students rated how good their own campus newspaper is. UF came in 8 on that list. You can see all the lists and get info on how their based at PrincetonReview.com.
