It is funny, as a prior marijuana addict. I found all the articles that would prove my usage was not harmful. I defended it to the ends of the earth. If someone found a study bashing it, I would find 5 that would prove different. Lets face it, it is not safe people, my lung cancer will prove that. I am 44 years old and dying. Defend as you wish. My husband which used the same amount as I is suffering from COPD. By the way, we both have never smoked ciggaretts. Defending it is rational to smoke.
The truth
There are many things I could say and there is good information here said by others but one thing that gets me is how it is said the there is not enough scientific research about marijuana. That is ridiculous! Our government has been studying it for many years and they continue to do so, I know people whom work for NIDA and handle the studies. I was about to ramble on but I will stop there for that part.
There is another reason I believe hemp has been demonized and prohibited and that is because you can use hemp or a byproduct of hemp to make products that currently must be made with oil byproducts or trees. The big business that is our government and also on the side of big business didn't like the competition with hemp so they decided to take care of it and make it the evil "gateway drug". Before hemp was prohibited it was grown by many of our nations founders. George Washington was a hemp farmer. In the 1800's if you had a farm in Virginia you had to grow hemp on it, that was the law. Something very twisted in the way our business....I mean our government works. Oh, and the way hemp is used to produce things like plastic and or paper like the hemp paper that our constitution was written on requires less refining than the current process now. And the way huge old trees are murdered to provide what a plant that can be regrown every year and possibly multiple times a year is a utterly brainless. Some people may say "Oh he's just one of them tree huggers" and I'm not but I do appreciate the value of trees to our earth and to our being. And yes, hemp is the same thing as marijuana.

it's really retarded that they banned a plant, i mean think of it, people are telling you NO DONT CONSUME THIS PLANT, THIS PLANT IS IMMORAL AND EVIL...it's ridiculous. it grows from the ground and if you happened to set it on fire some side effects are bound to happen. these are just scare tactics man. people says a joint equals to about 14 cigarettes or so but people i know who smoke cigarettes smoke around a pack or two a day. and that gateway drug lecture is nonsense, of course there gonna start off smoking weed, who wakes up and wants to snort coke...just lay off weed it's not evil, its awesome
marijuana leagalization
First and foremost Pot does damage the insides of people and alters the chemistry of people bodies to many different side effects and i know cause this stuff landed me in the hospital because improperly informing my brain of food cumsumption giving me stomach wall damage. Most persons wanting a legalization of this stuff are probably using it for non-medicinal purposes. though right that about the taxes thing. There are many who enjoy a drug free body in godly clarity, and dont need this plant to reduce stress, prayer is the best medicine. my sister said pot makes her more concentrated and it took her 10 sec longer to find simple info on the net ( education applications)and read it, even though i had already read it. don't get me wrong i've done it, but preffer a total alertness in grace then in intoxication from a plant, anyone smoke lilacs or roses or tulips. Let all those who understand it best pros and cons not being under the influence to give us accurate data on the side effects for 30 years down the road. those who run from the mercy of the Lord, run right into the just hand of God, it's a very karmic law that he put in place. How much longer is America and the world going to put up with these LIES about marijuana??? It just seems ridiculous that police are still chasing around pot smokers! Seems like a read in the paper every week that some pedophile or rapist gets a slap on the wrist (community service/probation) because there isn't enough room in county jails....maybe because we're filling them with non-violent marijuana users!! It is common knowledge that marijuana is less dangerous then alcohol. Even just taking a look at deaths from alcohol compared to deaths from marijuana(zero). It obviously gets more complicated then this but when it comes down the the bread and butter its quite simple. Keep in mind im Canadian so i do believe in freedom to live ones own life.
