Dartmouth's Acceptance Rate for Legacy Students Twice That of Regular Students

Dartmouth is twice as likely to admit legacy applicants as it is regular applicants, the Dartmouth reported. The newspaper calculated that the school admitted 29.7 percent of legacy applicants to the Class of 2012, compared with approximately 12.7 percent of nonlegacies—a discrepancy that remains consistent with years past.

Few schools announce their legacy statistics, but the Dartmouth story notes that Princeton's legacy acceptance rate is more than four times higher than its regular rate over the past 10 years.
