Bowling Green Antifeminist Bake Sale Draws Ire
An "Anti-Feminist Bake Sale" held by the College Republicans at Bowling Green State University caused quite the stir Monday, triggering a fervent protest of the sugar-packed demonstration, the BG News writes. Along with cookies and brownies, the bake sale participants distributed "Radical Feminist Agenda" fliers, featuring quotes such as "All men are rapists, and that's all they are" and "The most merciful thing a large family can do to one of its infant members is to kill it."
Protesters—who eventually outnumbered the College Republicans—condemned the bake sale's message, saying it misrepresented the feminist movement and reinforced old stereotypes. "They've taken quotes from first and second-wave feminists and provided no date, time, or context." These demonstrators fired back with their own rhetoric ("Anti-feminist is half-baked sale" and "Feminism is about choice") and, eventually, they persuaded the College Republicans to change the event name to "Anti-Radical Crazy-Feminist Bake Sale."

That's just like a bunch of feminists... they can't stand opposition. They try to silence free speech when it disagrees with their agenda. GO ANTIFEMINISTS!
Anti-Feminist Bake Sale
So, did the outrageously titled bake sale make any money? Did the College Republicans manage to draw enough of a crowd to sell their goods? That's the only reason I can imagine that someone would dream up such a ridiculous stunt. Surely in the 21st century, we have progressed a bit further than the negative press given to feminists in the 60s and 70s. Why is it that when people decide to condemn an entire belief system, they focus specifically on the most radical, extremist viewpoint of that system?
So this group of people, the College Republicans, organized this little event, spent time and at least some money to get it going, and to what aim? What was accomplished? Was a life saved? Was humanity changed for the better in any way? I think not.
