Michigan’s Soulja Boy-Themed Shirts Upset Students
Reader Comments
they r rught
im just saying cuz they played it (uncencored) at my school pep rally once and had the girls dance to it, and all these white teachers and lots of the kids can't even understand the words let alone know what they mean. I told this girl what it meant and her eyes get all big like "what! ooh its hooeess..." rofl
they r right
come on stop pretending like that Crank That doesn't mean anything bad. Look up some of the phrases, do you really think the guy was completely oblivious to the other meanings?
even If you going to stick your head in the sand and pretend all the words refered to just the dances, you still have to admit that "supersoak that (w)ho(re)" can only mean one thing. What if the shirt said "have sex with prostitutes"?
dumb people stop with the "stop hatin" comments, just cuz he gets money and people like dancing to his song doesn't make him right.
The real question is whether the university is allowed to cencor T shirts. If it is privately owned then they can probably do whatever thing they want to students on threat of expulsion, even if it is competely ridiculous(which it isnt).
souljaboy hater
everyboby need to stop hateing on souljaboy t-shrit because he is make more money then yell
stop hating
He is not doing anything wrong. the radio blocks out allo of the bad words any ways. He is making a living making people sing and dance to music they like. It is not anything wrong with that. To know what the lyrics say you must listen to the music.
Correction
I live in South Quad and would like to correct the article.
The back of the shirt says "Superman that..." not "Superman that ho"
Just thought I would clear that up
get real
all it is is a song dont listen to but u hobos out there with ure pants up to ure man boobs get real and
Supermaning a ho
By this point, folks should know exactly what "supermaning a ho" means.
To review - ithe term describes an act performed by a man on a woman during a sex act.
Specifically, when the man is having unprotected sex with the woman in the "doggy style" position (woman on her hand and kneees being penitrated - either vaginally or anally - by a man who's behind her, either standing or, more commonly, on her knees) he pulls out prior to ejaculation and releases his semen onto her back.
Afterwards, he tells the woman that he'll wipe his semen off her back. He pretends to do so, but in fact leaves his bodily fluids on her back. Assuming that the woman sleeps on her back, during the night the semen will dry. Next morning, the sheets are stuck to her back, resembling a superhero's cape.
Assuming that the woman in the above scenario consented to have sex with the man, and at no time withdrew that consent during the course of their sexual activity, "supermaning a ho" is not, strictly speaking, sexual assault.
It IS degrading, on several levels - the whole having unprotected sex with somebody you don't plan to have kids with, as well as failing to clean your bodily fluids off your partner, and the whole "performing a practical joke on a sex partner" thing, and of course referring to the woman you're having sex with as a "ho" tops off the disrespect buffet.
But disrespecting one's sex partner is NOT the same as sexual assault!
In other words, "supermaning a ho" does NOT make you a rapist.
It just makes you a total jerk!!!
As a male college student, and someone who works with survivors of sexual assault, I see the many ways in which rape is normalized in college.
The issue here is not where the slogan came from, you could find equally misogynistic words in country music or even literature. The issue is that whoever was responsible for designing and approving the shirts thought that "superman that ho" was harmless. The words don't advocate rape per se, but they chip away boundaries and certainly devalue women. Kudos to the students fighting this.
