If a good ass whippin wasn't stopped in the 80's because of out of control parents abusing their kids then these young people would have had a belt to thier ass and wouldn't be out of control themselves with violence anger and guns. I got my ass whipped and I DON'T USE GUNS OR HURT ANYONE!!!!!
Guns and other stuff
Maybe one answer is to require all hand guns to be exposed. It might make someone think more than twice if they knew they were surrounded by others with a weapon just as lethal as theirs. And think of the boon to the fashion industry. I don't say that lightly. It could make "carrying" a cultural as well as fashion statement while reducing gun crime. Then we could start dealing with knives and personal tasers. Checkematthedoor, anyone?

We have sent men to the moon. We have the technology to see any address from satellite transmissions to our home computer via the net. Yet, kill each other with rocks, sticks, golf clubs, tennis rackets, hammers, knives, swords, axes, cars, drugs, poisons, alcohol, ice picks, table lamps, bricks, shovels, picks, pillows, rope, fists, feet, and any other weapon, device, material, instrument or substance, whether animate or inanimate.
The trouble is not with the instrument, but within the character of the ones who wield the instrument of death. Mike B of PA is right. It starts in the home, and it is not the fault of the administration, present or past. When the truth comes out about this shooting, don't be surprised to see jealousy at the heart of the matter. She intentionally shot two girls, why not more? She had to reload to shoot herself. Doesn't this indicate that she targeted the two victims, and was not a random shooting?

That's a great idea. Why didn't anyone else think of it; "ban guns"...
Hey, while we're at it, let's ban street drugs too...how about prostitution?....
Wait a minute. That's right - THEY'RE ALREADY ILLEGAL
You can't fight ignorance, environment, or bad influences by insolating your children from everything that is percieved as bad or dangerous. As parents (not teachers, police, or clergy - but PARENTS), we need to educate our youth and instill a sense of resposibility and accountability. Don't impose your simplistic, ill-concieved, "if I have allergies, we'll just ban flowers" mentality on those who want to legally protect themselves and their families from those sub-standard elements of society who would welcome such a law to take advantage of the 'easy pickings' - law abiding, unarmed citizens.
Here's one more: buy a lock to keep bad guys out of your house.

Shooting in LA
I Agree. It is a sociatal problem, not one of method. People who go on these types of rampages will use whatever is handy, so eliminating one method or another doesn't stop the problem. Some of our people have reached the breaking point with all of the stress of living in today's society. The information age not only provides information, but a good deal of it is made-up. In the past, those who could not cope were put somewhere so that they could do no harm until they could figure out right from wrong. In today's video society, that is an ever-blurring distinction for some. You can't say that learning your ABC's from Sesame Street is a good thing and think that that is all that you can learn from staring at the tube. It wasn't called the "Boob Tube" for nothing! You have to know what's real and what isn't, and some folks have a problem with that difference. The policy of "Take away the guns, blur the lines, play "opposites" (what's good is bad-what's bad is good), report only the negative, be politically correct and conquer is in full swing in this country. Shame on those who fail to resist!

Such tragedies will also continue to happen as long as there are humans and they have access to knives, pillows, drugs, hammers and anything that can inflict a fatal attack. It started in Biblical times and will not stop until the next biblical time comes. Guns are even the method of choice for this administration and some running to be the next.

The second amendment has never been interpreted by any federal court as giving individuals the right to bear arms of any kind. As long as guns are available, tragedies will continue to happen.
