Sexual Health Survey Trumps MBA Rankings in Interestingness

September 18, 2007 03:49 PM ET | Alison Go | Permanent Link | Print

Forget the Wall Street Journal's rankings of best MBA programs; Trojan (of condom fame) released its second annual Sexual Health Report Card last week.

The Ivy League is the most sexually healthy conference, and while I'd like to insert a joke about involuntary abstinence here, the survey actually evaluates schools' resources, such as sexual health awareness programs, condom and contraception availability, and sexual assault programs. The University of Minnesota tops the list of individual schools (with advocates like these, how could they not?), and the University of Wyoming came in second. Louisiana Tech University came in last place.

Sexual health rankings cellar dwellers like Baylor University (134 out of 139) dismissed the survey as "goofy" and a "marketing tactic," and the rest of the large Texas schools had little to show (University of Texas ranked highest at 53rd). Unsurprised officials at Catholic universities shrugged. "We are not a place where we are giving out contraceptives," an administrator from Georgetown University (115th) told the Hoya. "We must be consistent with our Catholic identity, and [this survey] faults us for that."
