A Morbid Protesting Trend?
More than 1,000 miles from the massive antiwar protest on Washington, D.C.'s National Mall, around 30 University of Nebraska students staged their own die-in protest—lying still on the ground—as football fans streamed into the much-hyped, nationally televised Nebraska-University of Southern California game Saturday.
Number of protesters in D.C.: 10,000. Number of people going to football game: 80,000. Talk about priorities.
In another protest that perhaps marks the beginning of a macabre movement, Penn State students also held a die-in on Friday, not to protest the Iraq war, but to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacres in Lebanon.
