'Violated from Miles and Miles Away'

April 18, 2007 05:31 PM ET | Permanent Link | Print

Students held vigils on Monday and Tuesday night at Washington University in St. Louis, passing out ribbons in Virginia Tech's orange and maroon colors, the Student Life reports. "This is important to all of us because it shows how things can change so quickly and how life can be so fragile, even in such a safe environment," says one senior who is leader of the campus's Latter-day Saints Students Association, which organized one of vigils. "Especially after 9/11 we're all very sensitive to the trauma of being violated from miles and miles away. I think it's important for us to not stop feeling."--K.T.
