Government Moves to Simplify Financial Aid
The application for federal financial aid known as the FAFSA may soon get much simpler. Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Education announced a new online tool to help students predict how much aid they could get at different institutions. The tool, the FAFSA4caster, is scheduled to launch April 1 at www.federalstudentaid.ed.gov. Earlier this week, lawmakers introduced bills to cut the FAFSA form's length in half. Though both moves would make getting financial aid less of a headache, neither would actually increase the aid.
