5,000 Evacuated in Arizona State Fire
Note to Arkansas State pranksters: Fires can be real. That's what 5,000 Arizona State University students and employees found out Thursday, after they were evacuated from the school's Memorial Union as a two-alarm fire raged inside, the State Press reports.
Though no one was hurt and the evacuation went relatively smoothly, the frequency of false alarms this semester (20 to 30, one student estimated) made for sluggish mobilization after the sirens went off. "Most of us have been in so many false alarms and drills in our educational experience, we thought it wasn't a big deal."
