In the Dorm of the Future, Your Professor Will Teach Right in Your Bedroom!
A one-piece sink and toilet and rooms that can be stacked like Legos will be part of the dorm of the future, the Association of College and University Housing Officers' 21st Century Project initiative announced this week. The project collected dozens of designs as part of its bigger plan to build college dorms that are more than just "four walls and a bed".
The winning design, called "flexDorm," aims to bring learning right into students' bedrooms: A design shows a bright, young kid sitting on the edge of his bed, attentively watching his bedroom wall, which displays video of a professor writing on a blackboard. (What would happen to actual lecture halls is unclear.) Another design, which includes movable walls that open up when kids want to socialize or throw a party and then close back when they want privacy, won the "People's Choice" award.
Thanks to Wesleying for spotting this first.
