Money, not love, was the reason for one Columbia University student's recent marriage. Getting legally married to a woman with whom he shares no romantic relationship--and who is actually in a relationship with another man--helped the Leo, who was not named in the Spectator article, prove he was financially independent from his parents. That enabled him to get more financial aid, the Spectator reports.

The 1984 film Revenge of the Nerds will not be remade after all. Filmmakers say that's because of "concern with the direction of the movie," but some bloggers think it might have to do with Emory University's decision not to let filmmakers shoot on the Emory campus. "When we get a request for a movie, we want something that is in lines with the mission and strategic plan of the University," a university spokesman explains to the Wheel. Making fun of nerds, apparently, is not part of Emory's strategic plan.

The Georgetown University program was created three years ago to help Cuban students get technical training in U.S. colleges. But it has faced some serious setbacks, most of them stemming from the fact that very few of the chosen students are able to get visas, the Hoya reports.

A Colgate University columnist is upset after reading a note in a bookstore bathroom stall that seems to advocate eating disorders. "Thin/Is Beauty/Why do we let people tell us/what we do is wrong/Anorexia and Bulimia are lifestyle/Choices/And we have the/Freedom to choose/C.A.E.D.U./Colgate Advocates of Eating Disorders Unite," the note read. "I almost vomited right then and there," says the columnist--before clarifying: "not because I was exercising my right to choose bulimia."
