"Cheat?

Honestly I could care less if my students use their cells to cheat,I'm getting paid regardless."

I think you need to find a different career. You obviously do not care about your students. Just let me say that I have never been more thankful to not live in AZ if this is the kind of morals that they look for in their teachers!

More evidence of types of cheating

Take a look at some of the stuff this guy describes and that too at a top school.

It's truly revolting the state of education in America.

what about changing how we educate our children?

Seems to me the simple solution here is to stop asking them questions they can find the answers to on the internet or store the answers to in their cells phones or even get a decent answer to from a friend's text message.

In other words, since they can look up 'facts' and evidently know how to do that more efficiently than we can monitor their activities, we need to not ask them about 'facts'. We need to ask them to use their brains. We need to ask questions that don't have simple, factual answers; questions they need to think about and the answers to which should be unique.

Oh my, we might have to actually teach them how to use their brains -- reward creative thinking and not just creative ways to find answers without having to 'learn' the facts.

HUH? of AZ

It's not like they have the phones on their desk. These kids can text WITHOUT looking at the phone, and keep it in a pocket or lap hidden to glance at when they need to. And honestly with numbers close to 40 in a classroom, I can't watch all of them every second. Saying that as a teacher I need to spend more time instilling ethics upon students....I thought my job was to educate not instill ethics. Why don't you go and talk to the people in the music and television industry and tell them about ethics. Your kids spend more time listening to them. Until then, teach your kids that cheating is cheating, and that there is a clock on the wall so they don't need to check the time on their phone, and that their mom knows that they are in class, and shouldn't be sending them texts that they need to answer either means that Mom's an idiot, or on top of cheating they lie also.
