What in Common?

You will find that each one of these districts has high quality school libraries -- staffed by credentialed school librarians in every school.

LAUSD

Brewer was fired and Coritnes has replaced him. the school district is in disarray with politics conflict.

What about LAUSD?

I understand Los Angeles has made great strides in the past few years under ex-Super David Brewer. Some progressive programs are in place and are turning the numbers around. LAUSD's demographics reflect a high proportion of non-native English speakers, which tends to be an obstacle to higher test scores. However, as more non-US born students assimilate into the American mainstream, I expect their scores to rise. What we should focus on in America's educational system is how it does not prepare students for life's realities...career, parenthood, citizenship, advocations, physical and mental health. Who really remembers what date certain non-major historical events happened... and who really cares besides history teachers? Let's teach more of what is essential and applicable in life, and less to do with miscellaneous facts requiring rote memory that don't do much else beside clog up brain cells from use on more important processes like making sensible decisions.
