Clinton Targets Several States for Wins

Hillary Clinton and her advisers are gaming out their strategy for the next round of 12 Democratic presidential nominating primaries and caucuses. They expect rival Barack Obama to win the Wyoming caucuses tomorrow and the Mississippi primary Tuesday. They are optimistic about winning the big prize of Pennsylvania on April 22, and then they are expecting a hard-fought split with Obama in the remaining nine contests.

Clinton is confident that on May 6, for example, she will win Indiana, but Obama is expected to take North Carolina. Clinton is also anticipating victories in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Puerto Rico; Obama is considered strong in Oregon and elsewhere. The problem: None of these scenarios would give Clinton a majority of delegates at the Democratic convention in August.

But if the superdelegates go her way and primaries are rescheduled in Florida and Michigan because of a delegate dispute, Clinton and her aides believe they can go over the top.
