Bush and Catholics

The "record" that President Bush established with respect to Catholics is his "record" of packing a "record" majority on the Supreme Court comprised of members of a single church----Catholic. Scalia, Thomas and Kennedy were already there, so he added Roberts and Alito to make a total of five Catholics out of nine Justices---for the duration of their lives. We shouldn't, of course, have had a majority of anything even as benign as members of The Lion's Club on the highest (supposedly) secular court in the world---if for nothing more than the avoidance of the appearance of a bias and a religious taint. But this was your president's "judgment" in action.

The problem is that they were added ostensibly for the overturn of Roe v. Wade, a thing that you may notice has not been done and probably won't be done because Republicans want to "run on" abortion forever. What HAS BEEN done by these guys are some decisions such as the Lilly Ledbetter case that nullified your laws to prohibit wage discrimination by corporations against select individuals.

The sooner that most Catholics become aware that "their" majority on the Court is making decisions that most real Catholics will not be proud of, the better off we all shall be. Eventually the outcry of public opinion from their own Church members against their "corporations-first" philosophy is going to grow from a whisper to a shout, as sure as the sun comes up. And don't call me anti-Catholic. I'm not.

The Catholics are good folks and set to be surprised again and again by their unfortunate bloc of Justices.

What hooey? hooey

Good point. Admitted sinners should be banned.

Another stone, please!

Ethics?

What hooey.

John McCain is a n admitted fornicator and adulterer..or doesn't that count in the "values" espoused by this group?
