A small explosion occurred in New York City's Times Square this morning, causing structural damage to an unoccupied military recruiting station. No injuries were reported. The explosion, which happened around 3:45 a.m., shook buildings several blocks away.

A disturbing new report shows that American troops in Afghanistan, especially those serving repeat tours, are suffering in increasingly high numbers from depression and other mental disorders. Nearly 30 percent of soldiers on repeat tours of duty, the report says, were found to have depression, anxiety disorders, or other combat-related mental illnesses.

In the latest volley in the crisis between neighbors Venezuela and Colombia, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez says that his country is moving to block Colombian investments and imports worth billions of dollars. "We aren't interested in Colombian investments here," Chávez said last night. "Of the Colombian businesses that are here in Venezuela, we could nationalize some."
