Giuliani Team: He's Not Running Scared

He's 0 for 2 and likely to go 0 for 4 before having any chance for a primary or caucus victory, but Republican Rudy Giuliani isn't running scared as he tries to change political history by ignoring small-state elections in favor of later large-state contests.

"Rudy is not rolling over," said one of his Team Rudy members. Giuliani has been under assault in the media for his unorthodox campaign, but he apparently feels better today because the GOP field remains split with John McCain winning New Hampshire after Mike Huckabee won Iowa.

"There is no front-runner in the Republican side yet," said a party strategist. Giuliani advisers said that he plans to counter the McCain press juggernaut with a series of major policy proposals that they believe will spark lots of media attention.

"Rudy is rolling out what might be the largest tax cut in history," said the Team Rudy adviser. He'll also play up his underdog status while focusing mainly on Florida, where a victory is a must. "I think Rudy is going to focus like a laser beam on Florida during the next three weeks. The rugby scrum with Romney is still alive and kicking; McCain is resurgent,but seeming to have the same cap on his conservative support as always, and Huckabee is trying to figure out where he can grow his vote beyond social conservatives."
