Romney Tops in TV Ads in N.H.

Mitt Romney, as he did in Iowa, has taken the prize for most candidate television spots run in New Hampshire during the first four days of the new year--7,247 in the three media markets that the Nielsen Co. had monitored going into tomorrow's primary.

The two big-money leading Democrats were a distant but healthy second and third: Hillary Clinton ran 5,110 TV ads, and Barack Obama ran 4,569. Democrat John Edwards ran 1,417.

Republican John McCain's investment in 3,670 ads in New Hampshire has helped him top former front-runner Romney in the polls going into the primary, while Iowa Republican caucus winner Mike Huckabee has continued to campaign on a shoestring. He ran 83 television ads from January 1 to 4.
