This morning's top stories:

• The so-called architect of 9/11 has confessed to his role in planning and financing the attacks, according to a transcript--some of which was redacted--released Wednesday night. Read the transcript. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the one-time No. 3 in al Qaeda, is being held at Guantanamo Bay.
• The U.N. Security Council will consider a new set of sanctions on Iran today including a block of all Iranian arms exports.
• The banana company Chiquita Brands International paid Colombian terrorists for protection, the company admitted Wednesday. It agreed to pay a $25 million fine.
• Sen. John Sununu, a New Hampshire Republican, has called for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign over the case of the fired U.S. attorneys. Sununu could face a tough re-election battle in 2008.
• A new service called GrandCentral offers to integrate a person's various phone numbers into one means of contact at any given time, the New York Times reports.
