Morning Buzz: Nov. 20, 2007

Despite violence being down overall in Iraq, the northern part of the country has become more violent as members of al Qaeda in Iraq and other militant groups have moved there to avoid coalition forces, the leading U.S. commander in that region said today.

Some 3,000 opponents of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf were released from jail in the latest sign that Musharraf is bending from pressure from his western allies. Opponents were jailed after Musharraf suspended the country's Constitution and called for emergency rule.

A federal grand jury is investigating the Blackwater USA security guards involved in the September shooting deaths of 17 Iraqi civilians. ABC News reported yesterday that some of the guards were subpoenaed to appear before a panel next week. The Iraqi government also wants to prosecute the guards.
