Morning Buzz: Oct. 2, 2007

Today, for the second time since World War II, the leaders of the two Koreas met face to face. North Korean leader Kim Jong Il and South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun exchanged greetings for 12 minutes at a summit in Pyongyang. Formal talks between the leaders will begin tomorrow.

Ten years and a month after Princess Diana died in a car crash in a Paris tunnel, British authorities today opened an inquest into her death. 

After he delayed their meeting for several days, Myanmar's junta leader, Gen. Than Shwe, met with U.N. envoy Ibrahim Gambari. Gambari hoped to halt a government crackdown of those participating in antigovernment protests. Citizens are now engaging in a silent protest. During the nightly broadcast of the government newscast, they are turning off their lights and television sets.
