Six years later, Americans around the country and the world gathered to remember the September 11 terrorist attacks. Firefighters, family members, and other New Yorkers gathered at a park near ground zero to read the names of the 2,750 people killed at the World Trade Center. President Bush attended a church service in Washington this morning. And the public was invited to attend a reading of the names at the site near Shanksville, Pa., where United Airlines Flight 93 crashed. U.S. News reported this week on "A Tale of Two 9/11s," contrasting developments since the attacks at the Pentagon and the World Trade Center.
Several days after Osama bin Laden made his first video debut in almost three years, al Qaeda issued a video today containing the last testimony of one of the 19 hijackers involved in the terrorist attacks.
A day after his influential testimony in front of House members, Gen. David Petraeus jumped from the 16th-most-blogged-about person on BlogPulse.com to the No. 2 spot. The prominent military leader, slated to appear in front of the Senate today, came in behind falling pop star Britney Spears, who gave a lackluster performance at the mtv Video Music Awards on Sunday night.
