The Korean War has been suspended since a truce in 1953. However, it was the subject today of a testy exchange between President Bush and South Korean President Roh Moo Hyun. Roh asked the American president to make a declaration to end the Korean War, since there was never a peace treaty. Bush replied he wouldn't until North Korea ended its nuclear program. From there, a tense back-and-forth between the two leaders ensued. The White House immediately downplayed the tiff and said there must have been something wrong with the translation.

Just in time for the anniversary of 9/11, al Qaeda's media arm announced that Osama bin Laden will release his first video message in nearly three years. His previous appearance was days before the presidential election in 2004. The announcement included a still shot of the upcoming video, and there was one notable difference: Bin Laden's beard, once streaked in gray, was fully black. It appears to have been dyed, a common practice among aging Arab leaders.
