Morning Buzz: Sept. 4, 2007

The Chinese government today denied that it hacked into the Pentagon's computers in June, responding to an article in the Financial Times yesterday. The newspaper reported that the People's Liberation Army hacked into a computer system in the office of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and that Americans had to take down the network for more than a week. Chinese officials said they were opposed to all criminal activities undermining computer networks.

Sorry, North Korea, says the United States, but you still sponsor terrorism. North Korea's Foreign Ministry said yesterday that the United States had taken it off the list of countries that sponsor terrorism. Today, Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill denied this claim and suggested that North Korea would have to go further in dismantling its nuclear program before it could get rid of this designation.

The second Category 5 storm of the hurricane season slammed the Nicaragua-Honduras border this morning. Communication to the area has been cut off.
