This morning's top stories:

• A 6.3-magnitude earthquake in Indonesia leveled houses across much of the western Sumatra island this morning, killing at least 70 people.
• Lawmakers vowed change at Walter Reed and other military hospitals during yesterday's hearings. U.S. News's Linda Robinson has the story.
• Nine U.S. soldiers died yesterday in Iraq in two incidents in provinces north of Baghdad.
• Six fired U.S. attorneys are claiming they received little information about why they were cut ahead of today's testimony before a House subcommittee.
