Hamas and the Israeli government -- terrorist groups

In the 1800s, Americans took more and more Native American land, pushing the Indians onto reservations. When Indians rebelled and killed settlers, the Indians were deemed savages and were massacred. It was called Manifest Destiny then, but now it's recognized as theft and genocide. Israel is no different. They bulldoze more and more Arab land, build more and more settlements, defy more and more U.N. resolutions ordering them to stop the theft, starve more and more Arabs in the reservations known as Gaza and the West Bank, and the Palestinians who fight back are massacred. The rhetoric of Lieberman is vile racism, and the right is eager for Arab blood. I see it as the supreme irony that a people who suffered a holocaust in the 20th century are slowly creating one today. It's very simple: both sides deserve to live in peace and with autonomy, and any group that deliberately blocks that is criminal. So with Hamas, so with the Israeli government.

Arabs still believe in the destruction of Israel

It is no surprise that the Arabs bemoan the fact that Israel has moved their politics to positioning themselves to defend its people from those who wish to destroy them. The Arabs have the wealth and the land to develop a Palestine within the borders of kindred Muslim countries. However, it is to their benefit that they continue to use the Palestinians as pawns in their wish to eliminate the Jewish people from a land that they also have ancestral claims. As noted recently by Amnesty International, Hamas has participated in terrorizing abducting, beating and murdering Gazans who they felt collaborated with Israel soldiers. The election of Hamas, like the Nazi's in Germany, eliminates any attempt by the Palestinians to live beside the Israelis and Arab nations are complicit with the same ideology. The "us or them" point of view is not a good starting point for bringing peace to the area.

Long Term Trends Not Good For Isreal or Western Culture

Western Europe, The United States, Isreal and Canada Have a Children per Couple rate of between 1 and 3 children.

If you take out couples who are 1st generation immigrants from Muslim countries and Latin American countries the children per couple number is less than 2 children per couple and the countries population is shrinking.

Compare this with eight children per couple in places like Gaza and other Muslim countries.

For this reason alone the West and Israel will decline in all respects relative to Muslim countries.

The very existence of the state of Israel over the next 50 years is very unlikely for that reason alone.

Extreme False Statements Destroy All Creditibility of Poster

Individual posting under the screen name John Smith of IL demonstrates extreme ignorance or willingness to spread false information out of hatred for Isreal.

Certain Facts that get in the way:

1. Palestinians have the genotype of Arab, in order to be committing genocide one would need to be attempting to kill all Arabs, or if you wanted to stretch the definition of Genotype the ridiculous ot least all people in Gaza. There are over a million people in Gaza. If Israel had using atomic weapons, or rounding up all civilians it gained military control over in Gaza and gassed them to death, or carpet bombed all the densely populated cities of Gaza with cluster bombs this might be arguable but they did just the opposite of all those things.

2. Less than 10% of the people in Gaza are Civilians who are the easiest to kill. Yet even by your numbers militants, who were hiding deep underground, were killed at a rate at least 400% greater than their presence in the population. Obviously Israel was working very hard to kill militants - otherwise they would have killed at least 90% Civilians.

3. There is know evidence - at all that Israel rounded up 100s of Civilians as you claim - and massacred them.

4. Only 1,500 people out of a population of over a million tightly packed into densely populated cities and refugee camps were killed. In a period of over two weeks of air superiority - tens of thousands could have easily been killed if massacres or genocide had been the Israeli objective.

War is Not Pretty - Any War - Legal or Illegal it is still Ugly

Americans and the Western Europe are living in a Fantasy Land.

Israel has been continuously attacked by acts of war carried out using illegal war tactics for illegal reasons.

The "government" of Gaza in the form of Hamas Militants ceased power from the constitutional government in Gaza and immediately launched and allowed military attacks against Israel.

In the years since HAMAS ceased power thousands of Israeli civilians have been killed by rockets launched from Gaza into Israel proper.

The UN only recognizes as Legal: Wars of self defense by countries carried out in a manner that complies with International laws of WAR ( the Geneva Convention on the Laws of War ).

Isreal launched a legal war of self defense after tolerating continuous illegal aggressive war from Gaza for years.

All This Talk

What is all this talk going to solve? Nothing. Look the animal squarely in the face and realize what it is. All (or most) of the war on the face of the earth is perpetrated wherever "certain peoples" reside. If all of the Israelis were suddenly transported overnight to another location on the farthest location from the middle east the violence would still go on in the Arab countries. That is the nature of the beast. There is no desire for peace - or even civility. We all know what the agenda of the Arab peoples is. They have declared it repeatedly and we refuse to believe them. They have had opportunities, but they have not accepted them. If they had, by now all of their lands would be gardens and modern cities instead of rude concrete buildings or mud huts. There would have been peace long ago. After 60 years why go on arguing about it? The leopard can't change its spots.

Maybe it's better this way, for they only have stones to throw and rockets to shoot.

I regret my previous harshness directed at you, Larry Derfner. As I hurriedly skimmed your article I mistakenly assumed that you were offering your own opinion rather than simply reporting the Arab general response.

Although the comment does smack of some personal sentiment, it, nevertheless, doesn't deserve the venom that I spouted.

That sentence itself shows how mired you are in your left wing prejudice, perhaps without realizing it. Are you insinuating that people on the right wing do not yearn for peace? The fact that the right wing disagrees on the path to peace, for instance, not negotiating and giving in to child killers and terrorist but rather fighting them with their own rules, are violence lovers?

The fact that the way to peace, and this is true throughout the natural world, is through ELIMINATING the threat, not befriending them. Don't be an idiot and ask if I'm advocating eliminating the Palastinian people, God forbid. What I'm saying is if the enemy refuses to even recgnize that you legitimately 'exist' then you must defend yourself. I'm sure that you, Larry Derfner, would give the shirt off your back with love to a thief who invades your home. You would give a kiss to the one who punches you in the face. Or maybe you wouldn't, its only 'other' people who dare not defend their peaceful existence with might.

Israeli Elections

Israel is committed to peace..but peace with security. As long as Hamas continues to launch rockets into Israel..the Israelis will rightfully and legally defend there citizens.

Why is Hamas causing the pain and suffering of their own people who are too frightened and intimidated by Hamas to encourage them to stop attacking Israeli territory?

Seven million Israelis(one million being Arab) are surrounded by 45 million Arabs not including Iran(Persians) who want to decimate the only real democracy in the region. The US will not permit it.
