Democrats Should Toss Joe Lieberman

Liberals are no more

I always equated liberals with being open-minded and tolerant of other people's ideas and representative of most of the Democratic Party. Liberals were supposed to be progressive and fierce defenders of the Bill of Rights and individual freedom as opposed to conservatives who valued order and tradition. Well, if those are the criteria to call oneself a liberal, there are few liberals left in the Democratic Party and what remains are far left believers who attack democracy.

From politically correct speech that allows free speech only for those who agree with the far left view to a vicious hatred of anyone disagreeing with "progressive thought,", today's left is more left-wing fascist than democratic.

If a person disagrees and attempts to make his/her view known before a leftist audience, the speaker is booed and prevented from being heard. When a white peron uses a racially derogatory term, that person isw ruined. When an African American uses the same term, he is forgiven. Race cannot be discussed in liberal circles because if there are any criticisms of the black community by white , Hispanic or Asian critics, that person is labeled a racist and the left won't even listen or allow it to be disseminated.

Joe Lieberman votes with the Democrats on most domestic issues. He is not in line with Democratic foreign policy and for that, the Democrats want to silence him from expressing his views to the party.

WTF?? Is EVERYONE stupid or what??

I can not believe some of the comments that I have been reading in the blogs and in the newspapers regarding Senator Lieberman.

Senator Lieberman is a GREAT man who has worked very hard to represent the citizens of MA and the country. He would be a great choice for McCain to pick as his V.P. Candidate. If he doesn't pick him he should pick Gov. Romney. of MA. He will also add to the ticket and help raise some much needed funds seeing that Barack Obama has gone back on his word and decided a month ago to forgo public funding for the general election. Isn't $84 MILIION enough to run for President of the United States. Some people say McCain is a flip-flopper. I've even heard people say Governor Romney is a flip-flopper. Senator Obama is the BIGGEST FLIP-FLOPPER GOING!! He changes his views more often then people change thier underwear.

WHO IS A LIBERAL ?

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIBERAL AND COSERVATIVE?

THE TERMS LIBERAL AND OR CONSERVATIVE HAVE BECOME SLANG.

DO YOU HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT ALL DEMOCRATS ARE LIBERAL?

OR THAT ALL REPUBLICANS ARE CONSERVATIVE ? WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL.

Recall

The people of Connecticut should just recall this old man. When he was running as an "independent", he pledged to caucus with the Democrats and support the Democratic nominee for President. In other words, he ran and won on a lie. That makes him a Republican, of course. But Connecticut should just get rid of him altogether. He is an embarrassment to the state, the Senate, and America.

I'm glad to see the people sticking up for Lieberman. For the democrats/liberals voting to blackball him I have some questions since I'm confused.

A lot of liberals/democrats claim to be the party "for the people, for the issues not partisan politics," etc. A lot of liberals seem to praise Obama for being about "unity, bi-partisanship, etc" but yet when any democrat votes against the party line they are lambasted by the very same people. So what is your definition of bi-partisanship and working across the aisle?

I believe a lot of democrats do still believe in these principles however I refer to them as the "old liberals." The modern liberals seem to have forgone logic, compromise, etc in the name of idealist eutopia and are more akin to religious conservatives.

FYI I believe most "modern republicans" are neo-cons so both parties have been hijacked.

Lieberman

A Senator respected by a large number of our elected rpresentatives on both sides of the aisle, is entitled to have opinions that vary from the "party line", and should be respected for his willingness to espouse them. Shame on those who would denigrate him for being honest.

Are you kidding? If your idea of principles is the willingness to stand beside such hate-mongers as the Rev. Hagee and have no qualms about widening a war that would eventually engulf the entire Middle East then I need a new dictionary.

The fact is that Lieberman is not abiding by the will of the vast majority of his constituents. It's our office, not his and to keep looking for ways to expand a war that we want a way out of is a slap in the face to those constituents. It has nothing to do with "labels" and everything to do with the will of the people.

Those of us who live in CT. and voted for Lieberman ... instead of the nameless "hack" who was nominated by the Democrats ... respect dedication to principles rather than dedication to party politics. Lieberman has demonstrated his commitment to his convictions, rather than to "Liberal" or "Conservative" labels.

I couldn't help but notice that of all the opinions stated here, none seem to have come from Connecticut, so please allow me to make up for that.

What most of the Lieberman defenders here forget is that he is first and foremost a U.S.Senator from the state of Ct. and as such has failed miserably in that regard.

It really doesn't matter whether or not you agree with him. What matters is that his home state does not, and by a wide margin. When he initially lost the Democratic primary and decided to run as an "Independent" (playing the system beautifully I might add, gathering the signatures necessary for that run while still campaigning as a Dem, knowing he was in real danger of losing the primary), he asked for our forgiveness and claimed to see the light. We, the people of Connecticut, were told we would be the ones guiding his decisions. Man did we get suckered (though I'm proud to say I still voted for Lamont). And now the rest of the country is paying for our naivete. We were taken for fools in the most reprehensible way possible.

Don't get me wrong, everything a politician has to say on the subject of politics itself should always be taken with a grain of salt. It's when they lie about matters that literally involve life and death that you have to question their moral core. Lieberman hase proved to his home state that he has none and because of the lack of state constitutional tools we, as well as the rest of the nation, are stuck with this immoral, war-mongering chickenhawk for another four years. We were lied to. I'm sorry. And now it would be appreciated by many of us in Ct. if the Democratic leadership would show the backbone necessary to make up for our inability to see through his duplicity. Don't make the same mistake we did.

The Dems & Joe

Joe Lieberman still votes 90% liberal but that isn't good enough for the lock step dems. So much for free speech if Obama get the Prez. This is the essence of what's wrong with politics in America. It isn't what is best for the country but what is best for my party. The people of CN voted for Joe as an independent dem and their choice should be respected.
