The major issues we face today all stem from the war on Terror and that other war with Iraq. Obama NEEDS to pick someone with the Military know how to compliment his lack of experience. Clark is that choice. If not for VP then perhaps his cabinet.
Obama's VP pick
My first choice is Sam Nunn. Experience. Would put Goergia in play. Rendell has said no. Warner from Virginia wouldnt be bad.

I think Webb is a good choice because we need more no nonsense honest leadership. Three major crisis situations are the economy the environment ,,and the Iraq war fiasco.The challenges of theses issues are serious and call for collaboration, innovation and no bull s.America needs to come together to address theses concerns. Also the needs of our soldiers and their families need to be taken into consideration after this administration has used them by numerous deployments,extensions, and stop loss.The Pentagon continues to lie about the hign numbers of veteran suicides. As a mental health professional ,I am aware of the serious mental health problems military family members deal with as well.I know family members who have also had suicide attempts resulting from the treatment of their soldiers by this administration.You cant repeatedly deploy,extend and stop loss soldiers and their families without causing serious pain and damage.Then to know about the lies behind this war, that has caused such suffering, adds insult to the injured of this war.
Obama is a one man show
It will be interesting to see Obama with anybody... as far as I'm concerned he is a one man show. The media has mde him into a 'messiah' figure, since when does a 'messiah' need a running mate?
He has to pick somebody and whoever it is, it will humanize him. If he picks somebody stronger when it comes to the military it will make him look weaker on the military (i.e. Webb, Clark). If he picks Biden the liberal label will stick. Obama's smoking gave him a great speaking voice but Rendell's raspy voice wouldn't compliment that very well (he makes me want to clear my own throat when I hear him speak). Sebelius might compliment him, but if she appears to be weaker than Hillary then she would become a drag on the ticket.
So out of the five that Mashek mentioned the best pick would be Richards the former diplomat, the public has already become familiar with him, he fits Obama's talk with anybody with no pre-conditions no matter what policy, and he has a likable personality. He will humanize Obama in a good way or atleast in the safest way.
Either way, Obama, the media annointed 'messiah' will have a 'mere mortal' running with him which will ultimately make him look like a mortal himself and therefore he will appear to be more beatable as time rolls on.
Obama has already brought change, whether the future change he brings is good or bad we 'hope' it is good, but realistically he is still relatively inexperienced in national politics and the test of whether he will win will depend on how his substance stands against McCain's substance.
At that point Obama won't need to be a 'messiah' but simply a man who can prove himself without the help of a running mate, because a running mate will ulitmately only prove that he is just a man anyway. But will this man be able to win?

what about bill bradley; remember him, the ex b-ball player. may sound crazy but, as evidenced by our situation, the rules of old voters don't necessarily apply. the younger vote is tired of politics, and therefore weary of veteran politicians. as politics begin to heat up, the ugly rhetoric will push this rebellion ever further to the brink and a subculture will continue to metamorphasize wherein its members will just want an honest man/woman. the two can further appeal to youth by playing one on one basketball games on the ads. while driving on eachother they can debate politics.
