The Change We Deserve

"The Change You Deserve" *

Clinical trials have show the new and improved Republican Platform Prescription XR for America which was created to treat general anxiety, social and panic disorders may have serious side-effects.

Studies have shown the most common side effects attributed to XR reported in at least 26% of patients (and at least twice as often as with those administered the placebo) were propensities for nausea (31%) and constipation (10%).

Also revealed were increased instances of depression, decreased libido, agitation, nightmares, delirium, blurred vision and difficulty focusing.

The control group taking the placebo were four times as likely to experience irritability.

XR is known to cause loss of appetite, cold feet, postural hypotension and hemorrhoids (see Bend Over For Bush Syndrome).

May cause yawning, and/or sweating during election cycles.

Most common side effect is flatulence and political hubris.

Less common side effects include acne and/or pustular rash.

Not a controlled substance and has not been studied in clinical trials regarding potential for abuse.

Consult your family doctor if symptoms persist for more than four years.

The Antidepressant You Deserve

What a bunch of idiots. After what I'm sure was a lot of hemming, hawing, research, test marketing, etc, they come up with a slogan that was previously used for an antidepressant:

Quoting:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/12/gops-new-slogan-already-b_n_101376.html

"What the GOP doesn't seem to realize, because they are idiots, is that "the change you deserve" is the registered advertising slogan of Effexor XR, a drug that many of you might have started taking as a result of all the...you know -- terrorism. (Hat tip to Bluestem for catching this gem.)

Effexor, also known as Venlafaxine, is approved for the treatment "of depression, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder in adults." Its common side effects are very much in keeping with the world the House Republicans have striven to build: nausea, apathy, constipation, fatigue, vertigo, sexual dysfunction, sweating, memory loss, and - and I swear I am not making this up - "electric shock-like sensations also called 'brain zaps.'""

Obama may well be the only cure to these symptoms.

"Si, Se Puede!"

Boil those definitions down!

Don't imagine the election is a done deal for Democrats just yet. It, first of all, REQUIRES the team-up of Obama/Clinton, a unity not yet accomplished.

As for LIBERAL, the word is negatively alive and well. To the under-educated voters, the word is is made by Republicans to mean three things: 1) They'll take your guns 2) They'll murder babies 3) Queers will somehow "destroy" YOUR marriage (although your own infidelity and resultant divorce is far more likely.)

What the under-educated don't get is "conservative" does not mean God rules.

It means corporations rule, and that's ALL it means. The rest is smoke.

Hey, Jude.

McCain has been an outsider and a political maverick who has worked with both parties and both liberals and conservatives. Another plus: he and GB have a long standing dislike for each other which borders on a bitter feud.

With his background and years of experience, McCain is by far the best qualified to be Commander in Chief. HC's years in the White House, her background and experience, also qualify her to be President. She is a ruthless politician but circumstances in her life and in American politics have made her what she is today.

Change in and of itself is not necessarily a good thing. It depends on the change that will be made. Some changes are out of the frying pan and into the fire. Check out his short political history. BO is a product of the Chicago political machine. If I were casting a re-make of Robert Redford's film, "The Candidate," then BO would be my first choice as the lead actor. He is charming, articulate and inspiring. He shouldn't be President in the real world, but in the reel world, he would be terrific.

Both Parties act TOO much alike, these days.

I am with Deacon Blue on voting for the right people, not the right Party.

Here is where we differ, though.

I find it difficult to believe that someone who is 71 trying to change the way things are done when he has spent so many years doing the same ole thing.

With Hillary, we have already seen(FL and GA are excellent examples) of her trying to win AT ALL COSTS, even trying to cheat, if things don't go her way.

As far as on the job training goes; EVERY President goes through on the job training when they first take office, no matter how many years in politics.

At least with Obama, we have a shot at actual change. Best of our choices, in my opinion.

Don't vote Republican or Democrat. Vote for the best individuals.

I'm a lifelong Democrat going back a half century.

I love my country.

I've voting for McCain.

The Presidency is no place for OJT (on the job training) for someone who does not know or understand international politics. We got that with GB and would have it all over again with BO.

A Moron could have seen this coming.......

It amazes me that the Repubbies are cringing in fear, and shcok, and awe now.

A sixth grader could have seen this coming. The Repubbies' unswerving loyalty to the Shrubber for his immoral, unnecessary NeoCon war of choice could have been seen as a disaster waiting at least 4 years ago. Signing statements and torture ....... the Bush NeoCon Brownshirts came close to finishing off the US.

But, we still have some chance.....it is much diminished. Surge McBomb has NO chance of winning. Obama can be the right man, at the right time, if he can shake

the NeoCons OUT of government.....is not that right, Paul Wolfowitz??? OH, and I forgot!!....another $3.4 TRILLION of DEBT loaded onto the backs of your grandchildren. Fool = Republican.

21st century republicanism has been destroying this nation

If this country is going to survive as a democracy, America needs to shed their political party affiliations and realize that the Republican Party is not a party that is "of", "for", or "by" the people. Every since Ronald Reagan and the Bush Crime Family, it has become the political party that only represents the interests of rich wealthy elitists. These are people who de-regulate industries that then rape and fleece the middle and lower classes of America to line the pockets of their rich handlers and keepers who get them elected. These are people who claim to be for less taxes when in reality, they are only for lowering the taxes of a rich wealthy minority of elitists. These are people who claim to be for less government but what they really mean by that is government de-regulation of industries that should never be de-regulated. They say that they are for "free markets" but what they mean by that is "free for all" market with no rules or regulations so that our jobs get shipped overseas and we import more then we export. They claim to be "pro-life" in order to get the votes of the one-dimensional, monolithic voters within the religious right wing while claiming to be for separation of church and state. They claim to love Jesus while they concurrently hate Hillary Clinton and homosexuals. They claim to be conservative while they spend like there is no tomorrow. If these people could have unobstructed power, they would turn the pages of American progress back to the days of the Salemn Witchcraft Trials.

Republicans

As a schoolboy, I campaigned for Alf Landon, Wendell Willkie, and Tom Dewey. In May of 2005 I changed to Independent. The Republicans, under Bush, no longer represented the party with which I grew up. Getting re-elected is so important to most politicans that nothing else is important enough to come in second. Bush's links to campaign money gave us a rubber stamp congress that wouldn't oppose any misbegotten policy Dubya desired.

How about "The Change You Deserve, not the Change You Want"? (that is, if you are silly enough to vote us back into the White House).
